I got the Medium recovery suit for my foster kitten’s spay, after seeing the utter misery other female cats go through with the “cone of shame”.I am SO GLAD I bought it pre-surgery! We got her back to the house from the vet’s and this little cat, even half-drunk on anesthesia and pain medication, fought that cone for a solid hour. Crashing, bashing, and wailing no matter what we tried to calm her. Finally we gave up and put her in the suit-she turned into a limp noodle the second that cone was off! The suit took a few minutes to get used to, but then she was off-eating, napping, and relaxing. She was also able to easily (and cleanly) use the litter box normally! My one complaint is that the binding on the leg holes are starting to come loose, making it look a little shredded. But heck, for something that’s meant for a maximum of two weeks of use on a wild, wily teenage cat who doesn’t slow down for bupkis, I’ll take it.I’m actually going to be recommending these to the SPCA clinic I took her to for her spay- they are a wonderful alternative that allows cats to eat, sleep, and drink more easily post-surgery. I think it’s made a huge difference in her recovery.★★★★★★★★★By KP-Donkey
It's super stretchy so despite being a bit short it fits ok enough to use. The larger would have hung on her like a sack. The thick velcro is stiff and overkill. My elderly cat ripped it in a few days and the fit makes her pee on her own feet. The neck part has to be pretty tall to not go over the shoulders.**While licking her chest, she hooked her lower jaw in the neckline. If I hadn't been sitting right there, she'd have broken her jaw struggling. I chucked this suit in the trash and made my own. I noticed she was choking and gagging if she was eating, which despite my vet finding nothing wrong and giving her throat lubricant did not improve. Finally I woke up to her clawing at her face trying to breath, in complete panic. We rushed to the vet ER where they could find nothing wrong at all to explain the behavior. If she purred or we touched her throat, she'd thrash and gag. Now over $2k in vet bills, they sent her home with narcotics to await a CT scan.I decided a kitty chiropractor was worth a shot and drove 2 hours. Her hyloid bone, atlas, TMJ, and neck were completely jacked up. This is from less than 10 seconds caught up in the neck of the suit, so maybe it happened another time when I was not there. This suit is dangerous, the neck to low on the chest. If I tightened any more, it would cut into her neck and airway.★★★★★★★★★By Jensmore
Got size Large for our 7 1/2 month old domestic long hair. He may be some kind of maine coon mix. He's 8.5 pounds as of surgery day. I thought this might be too big for him but it fit perfectly. It has stretch to it so it moved with him. He could still clean himself but it helped prevent him from getting all the way to his back end where the stitches were. He could get to it with a little extra work but mostly opted not to which was perfect. We kept it on for a full week. He seemed not totally himself, very tame, no bursts of kitten energy, and I thought perhaps it was taking him longer to recover than normal. But once we took the suit off him he immediately started to be his old self. Our dog was the same way with a cone, I just forgot that it sort of takes them down a notch having on this protective gear. It was for the best because he was more tamed than usual and it allowed him to heal properly. So just be aware the suit did have a taming effect on our cat, and could for yours too. It was very cute, and absolutely served its purpose. I definitely recommend!★★★★★★★★★By Crystal Lee
