My cat is 13.5" from base of neck to base of tail and apx 13.5 pounds. I purchased a LARGE.The first thing I noticed is there was many pieces of white lint stuck about the outfit & a couple of tiny pulls, making me think this may have been a prior return that wasn't checked. That kind of upset me for the price and wouldn't put it on my cat thinking what may have been in it. So, I hand washed it and left to dry. When putting it on after the wash/dry, the fabric was thin but very soft; the leg openings were great and had plenty of room, a plus as many have had tight back legs which easily causes chafing. The snaps were decent. The collar is not very wide which is a good thing as others have caught his bottom fangs time and again. So far he hasn't caught on this one. Collar appears abit small around the neck, waited to see if he catches this one w/a fang, which sadly he did a few hours into wearing it. That can be a problem if he is left by himself for a duration/day ect…Still concerned about ordering any more as this one I believe was used. He needs at least 6 more, wearing one per day for the rest of his life to help control his longtime OCD overgrooming issues. While I like the outfit, Im not crazy about getting someones returns for the price point. Will have to seriously think about reordering.****UPDATE ie..return?: I did communicate with the seller and sadly Amazon has these products to ship, maybe they did not secure returns properly. I am very happy with my communicate with the seller and feel more at ease.****Additionally, this garment is working out very well for my OCD cat. Very comfortable for him, plenty of room and more important, plenty of coverage. I just ordered 4 more.★★★★★★★★★By Judy
We got this for our cat after he had bladderstone surgery and overall I would recommend it if you’re willing to alter it as needed. The snaps on the back make it a breeze to put on and it holds up reasonably well to his sand paper-like tongue. You’re on this amazon listing because you need to keep your pet from licking right? Well you need to make sure they can’t take it off and that they can’t lick themselves through the legholes. Our cat slipped out of it due to the neck drawstring not holding in place against him squirming out of it. We fixed this by simply sticking a safety pin through the drawstring once it is as tight as it should be.We also found that although the length was sized appropriately, our 10 pound cat had enough slack to lick his abdomen though the rear leg holes. We fixed this by sewing it midsection in a few inches and doing the same near the rear leg hole. Once altered, he couldn’t get to his abdomen. It may have been overkill but we also made a DIY suture suit out of some old yoga pants that he wore under this suit for extra protection.I’m happy to report he’s all healed now! This made his 2.5 week recovery much more enjoyable than wearing the cone of shame!★★★★★★★★★By N
Update: I ordered a second recovery suit so that I could wash the first. The second, lavender suit has an adjustable drawstring with a clip at the nape of the neck. This is a BAD idea and a safety hazard. My cat went under our chaise lounge and that clip caught on the frame. As she struggled to free herself the cord pulled tighter around her neck. If I hadn't been home and heard her, I have no doubt she would have strangled. This is still a great product...if you receive one of them that don't have the drawstring. If you get one that does, I would suggest cutting and removing that cord before use.Original review, for product WITHOUT the drawstring.I wish my vet had sent my girl home in this instead of the panic inducing ecollar. In my opinion this should be the go to instead of the cone. I had ordered this before my cats spay surgery. When I got her home (in her cone) she raced to a corner and refused to move for several hours. When I removed the cone and put her in the suit she was immediately calmer. She's been in the suit for a week now and I don't think it bothers her at all. My only concern with the recovery suit was that it might stick to the incision. In our case that wasn't an issue but it's something I would watch for if the wound is damp at all.★★★★★★★★★By Frances Ubaldo
